Welcome Letter from Professor Michael Thorne, Vice Chancellor
Dear Prospective Applicant
Thank you for expressing an interest in the role of Director of Corporate Marketing Services at Anglia Ruskin University. This is a key appointment within our Corporate Management Team, and will be critical to our future success and the achievement of our strategic goals.
While our history goes back over 150 years - the Cambridge School of Art having been opened by John Ruskin in October 1858 - we are less than 20 years old as a University and therefore have the delight of adopting established university traditions as well as inventing new ones. Our history is uniquely entwined with that of our region. Indeed much of our recent history was formed out of partnerships with colleges across the region from Kings Lynn to Thurrock. In recent times this partnership way of working has been reinvented so that as well as our main campuses at Cambridge and Chelmsford, we are also developing outreach campuses (albeit on a different scale) in Harlow, Kings Lynn, Peterborough and Thurrock.
We have pioneered degree-level learning in the work place with major employers such as Barclays and Specsavers and this will become an increasing feature of our work in the next few years. Our international partnerships go from strength to strength in countries such as Trinidad and Tobago, Malaysia and China where students study our programmes in their own countries.
We are proud of our research, teaching and commercial partnerships and have an unambiguous commitment to continue to provide high quality, contemporary courses. We are an outward facing university that fosters innovative, customer-focused and collaborative styles of working.
We hope that you will be enthused by our vision and passion for Anglia Ruskin University and our ambition for its regional, national and international role. We are going places and do hope that you'll want to consider joining us.
Yours sincerely
Professor Michael Thorne
Vice Chancellor
